I know what you are thinking. What in the world does the nostalgic 20+ year old Verizon commercial above have to do with the "Matrix" theme? I am glad you asked. In order to find the answer, you have to "think outside the box" just as the commercial suggests. That is to say . . . You need to think beyond the reference to the movie.
The phrase “think outside the box” has become part of today’s business lexicon. However, it has also become one of the most overused and boring phrases ever heard. In fact, it has become so overused to the point that it has become cliché to where the original meaning has been lost and obscured over time.

Déjà Vu
In this scene, Trinity mentions that experienceing a "Déjà Vu" is typically a sign that there is a "GLITCH" within the Matrix which usually happens after something has been changed in the Matrix. I thought this might be the appropriate time to share this scene with you since this is the second time you have experinced quotes from "Adair."

NOT Déjà Vu
Just in case you think you were having a case of "Déjà Vu" like Neo had in the Matrix Movie . . . NO, I did not reference a quote from "Adair" twice. Please note that I gave reference to a different “Adair” quote earlier in the “ABOUT ME” section of my website. The First Adair (First Name: Paul) is a professional and specialist in OIL RIG FIRES. The Second Adair (First Name: John) is a professional and specialist in LEADERSHIP. I quoted each of them in different sections on my site.
“If you think it's expensive to hire a professional, wait until you hire an amateur.” – Paul “Red" Adair
“To solve problems, you need to think outside the box.”
– John Eric Adair

All that being said, I am going to provide you with a little bit of a history lesson as to the ORIGIN of the phrase "think outside the box" and how it relates to "matrix" (the puzzle) and NOT to "matrix" (the movie). "Check it out, CATS and KITTENS" . . . This is why I said think beyond the movie.
DOT “MATRIX” BOX
You may have seen this puzzle before. It is a “matrix” of dots in the shape of a square or a box. The goal is to connect all nine (9) dots within this “matrix” using ONLY FOUR (4) CONNECTING LINES.

If you keep trying to solve it within the confines of the box, you'll never be able to solve this puzzle.
The only way to solve the puzzle is to draw the four (4) lines, so they connect “outside” of the box. It's so simple once you realize the principle behind it.
The puzzle represents the way many people think. They get caught up thinking within the confines of a box. This is where the phrase “Think outside of the box” originates.

The matrix dot box puzzle above was created and introduced over 55 years ago in 1969 by John Eric Adair (born 18 May 1934) and is cited in one of his books, The Art of Creative Thinking, on page 63 with the solution provided on page 127. I have included a copy of this publication below for you to download free should you want to read more about “creative thinking” and “thinking outside the box.”
